This weekend is the massive Desert Kart State Titles, which means Roxby Downs is about to see over 100 competitors giving it their all around the dirt circuit from Friday afternoon.
RoxFM spoke with Heath Mynhart and Thomas Wilson, the President and Secretary of the Roxby Downs Desert Dirt Kart Club respectively, about what to expect this weekend.
"This is a pretty important event for us in town, probably the most go-karts we've had here since 2006, so basically we've got 166 nominations, and on top of that another 8 rookies," says Heath.
"There's been a lot happening at the club in the last 12 months in preparation for this."
For those who want to come along, Heath says entry will be $5 per car-load.
"We're quite a small club here, and any help we can get is very much appreciated, so definitely looking forward to getting as many car loads in. For spectators, we'll have an area for canteen facilities, so plenty of food a drink there, we'll also have a bar facility for those who want to come down and enjoy a cold beverage."
There are a lot of cars coming in to town to compete for the State Title this weekend, which means there'll be some pretty big races.
"The biggest field we've got is 19 karts; I think we've got 4 of those fields, ranging from kids at 8 years old all the way up," says Thomas.
"We've got pretty well 4 local drivers... we've got Adam in the KT Heavies, Michael in the KT Mediums, Michael's young fellas, Lachlan and Max in Junior Lights and Heavies, and Seth Jones in the Rookies."
