RoxFM - but who's listening?

RoxFM is a general interest regional community radio station, owned and operated by the people of Roxby Downs, in South Australia’s Far North. RoxFM reaches as far as the entrance of the opal mining town of Andamooka, which is just 30kms away, as well as the 24-hour operational Olympic Dam mine site, approximately 25kms north of Roxby Downs.  Roxby Downs is situated 270kms north of Port Augusta, and has a population of 4,500+ residents. There is virtually no unemployment here and most households have a high disposable income. Workers travel to Adelaide or Regional centres for recreation. You can attract these travellers to your business by taking a sponsorship package on RoxFM.

Representing the local Community of Roxby Downs, we endeavor to provide a valuable service aiming for the highest standards possible.

105.5 RoxFM is run by a team of committed volunteers and one employee. By sponsoring RoxFM your money will be going towards programs and services which RoxFM is constantly continuing to improve for the benefit of the local community. This also means that the community can be made aware of your business or corporation, and what you are promoting.

The station broadcasts 24 hours a day from the main street of Roxby Downs. Our volunteers present programs and regional information through community announcements and sponsorship segments with a music format suitable for all ages. These programs run at selected times between 7am and 10pm, while pre-programmed segments run between 10pm and 8am. A Community Market Day is held on the 3rd Saturday in each month during the school year, and RoxFM often uses these days as an opportunity to market the station. 

Audience listening times

  • Drive time - 5-6am, 5-6pm (catches workers driving to or from work).
  • Breakfast - 7-10am.
  • Lunch - Midday to 1pm.
  • Afternoon – these feature community talk shows, theme shows, and new Australian music.
  • Youth Presenters - between 3-5pm, these attract our young audience.
  • Nights - From 6pm to 6am approximately 1500 night shift workers at the local BHP Billiton Olympic Dam operation listen to RoxFM. (We play a variety of music during the night with some pre-programmed segments.)
  • Many local businesses in Roxby play RoxFM throughout the day; some have RoxFM programmed on their call waiting.

What is "Sponsorship"?

"Sponsorship" is very similar to advertising. It is a way to promote your business, while also supporting the Community Radio Station. All sponsorships go to air with the tagline "proud sponsors of RoxFM". This is to acknowledge your financial input into the station.

We are able to offer you a produced and pre recorded sponsorship if you so choose, individually tailored to your requirements. Based on your preferred script, we can design a sponsorship best suited to your organisation, and can give it airplay at the most appropriate times achieving maximum marketing exposure for your target audience.

To arrange sponsorship we require

  • One week’s notice prior to going on air, where possible.

  • Time to write the script (if required).

  • Time to record the script and make any changes (if required).
